The book of James in the Bible is a letter written to the early Christian church, which was facing persecution for its faith in Jesus. In James’ opening verses, Christians are commanded to respond to life’s trials and suffering with something unnatural to humans when faced with suffering – joy. Christians can have joy in the midst of trials because God can use suffering to strengthen our faith in Him. He guides us through all of it, and when we wholeheartedly put our faith in Him, Jesus is our anchor that keeps us steadfast no matter what we face!
